About Martin Gottlieb
In 2009, Martin began his traditional stone carving education in Denmark, honing his skills and building on a three generational family legacy of educated stone carvers. Upon completing his four year education and apprenticeship, he was immediately hired to join a team responsible for restoring one of the main towers of Kronborg Castle, a Danish national historical site.
Martin's exceptional work on this project led to his recruitment by a renowned Danish stone carving company, where he took on both national and private commissions. He soon became a co-owner of the company, leveraging his expertise and curiosity to integrate robotic technology, advancing the field of stone carving. Some of the most notable projects completed under his supervision include commissions for the Danish State and the Queen of Denmark, a commemoration piece for a Holocaust memorial at a German concentration camp, and the entrance to the Design Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.
After establishing himself as a leading stone carver in Scandinavia, Martin ventured to the United States to establish a cutting-edge stone carving studio.
His work in the United States reflects the timeless aesthetics and functionality of his Danish design heritage, blended with a modern, forward-thinking sensibility. Martin brings an innovative approach to an ancient medium, employing advanced carving techniques and high precision technology. His workshop focuses on ethical sourcing, using domestic stones to ensure a sustainable approach to his craft.
Blending Craft and Technology
At our workshop in Boston, we use state of the art technology to seamlessly work with interior designers, builders, and architects. We can work directly with any existing 3D drawing, scanning, or modeling and can assist in the 3D modeling process using digital software and 3D printed models. We are happy to provide 3D printed mockups for our partners for visualization of the design and installation process.
In our workshop, we operate an eight-axis robotic arm with the ability to mill any type of stone to a precision of less than a millimeter. Using robotic technology affords us the opportunity to take on larger projects with a small team. All products are finished by hand to ensure quality, precision, and bring life to our pieces.

Our Sustainability
We prioritize making works with domestic stone and reclaimed stone to reduce the environmental impact of cross ocean shipping and unnecessary quarrying. Reclaimed stone is stone that was originally quarried for bigger projects but was ultimately not needed. It also may be stone that was originally quarried for slabs (used in counter top production) but was ultimately determined not to be the appropriate size. Much of this stone has been sitting unused for decades. We do all of our own stone sourcing to ensure quality and honest trade practices.
Our workshop milling technology uses a closed water filtration system. We are able to recycle our water indefinitely by separating the stone dust from the water using a series of many filters, meaning that we can avoid single time city water use.
We reuse our stone dust to make recycled stone products such as tiles, flower pots, and interior decorations. For example, we have used stone dust from a marble kitchen sink to create custom tiles for a backsplash. Please reach out if you are interested in hearing more about our recycled stone products.
